UK Music – Non Executive Chair (UK)

UK Music is an industry-funded body, established in October 2008, to represent the collective interests of the recorded, published and live arms of the British music industry.

Through collective representation, UK Music promotes the interests of songwriters, composers, lyricists, musicians, record labels and music publishers (major and independent), managers, producers, promoters, venues and collection societies.

We are looking for a new Non Executive Chair to work closely with the CEO to support member engagement and lobbying to ensure the voice of the industry is heard across policy making.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the UK Music Board, setting the Board agenda and working with the Board and the CEO on strategy, performance and values.
  • Encouraging a culture of openness and debate, managing the Board’s relationship with the UK Music CEO and other executives, to ensure the Board is an effective working group.
  • Ensuring the involvement of all Directors and representatives of Member organisations in UK Music’s work.
  • Promoting effective communication with UK Music’s Members and stakeholders, representing UK Music externally as appropriate.
  • Taking responsibility for the Board’s composition and development, and as Chair of the UK Music Finance and Governance Committee to oversee all governance issues and the relationship with UK Music’s funders.

The role has a time commitment of approximately 10 working days per quarter.

Our successful candidate will have wide-ranging and relevant experience of the commercial music environment as well as exceptional presentation and communication skills. Candidates should have proven experience in team leadership and conflict resolution and previous experience as a Chair would be a distinct advantage.
