Founded in 2021, mprs (pronounced “Empress”) is a Series A stage music-tech business creating a new category of rights management for music producers and mixers. We advocate for our producer and mixer clients, enabling them to reconsider the way they do business and influencing the direction of the overall industry.

Company

We are a small team of music industry and royalty experts who have banded together to solve a complex set of administrative challenges on behalf of some of the most important creatives in music. Our technology is proven and in use by multiple top-tier music producers and mixers.

Role

We’re seeking a highly capable Director of Finance. You will work closely with our executive team in developing all aspects of our financial processes. Qualities we value
  • Music lover – strong appreciation for the art and a determination to empower musicians to be successful
  • Builder attitude – Envision and implement processes from start to finish
  • Comfort with ambiguity – We are small and scrappy, and while we prioritize being clear and thoughtful with requirements, we often find ourselves in uncharted territory that requires us to iterate and judge our success empirically
  • Security first approach – We deal every day with sensitive financial data and that forces us to consider our roles as fiduciaries of this data every step of the way
  • Music industry domain expertise, especially with royalties, is a plus but we have robust documentation and a team that is more than willing to help train you in all aspects of this

Competencies we require
  • 3+ years of relevant experience and bachelor degree in accounting / finance
  • Strong accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • CPA certification is a plus, as is prior experience with a Big 4 CPA firm
