We are seeking a detail-oriented Royalties & Accounting Analyst to join our market-leading music administration team in London. As part of Kobalt‘s Royalties & Business Intelligence team, reporting to the Director of Corporate & Client Analysis, you will play a crucial role in providing transparent and accurate reporting in the music industry. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about working with data, problem-solving, and delivering exceptional service to clients.


WHAT DOES A ROYALTIES & ACCOUNTING ANALYST AT KOBALT DO?
  • You will utilise SQL to query the Kobalt database and generate accurate, clean data.
  • You will execute the delivery of quarterly accounting to clients from our music royalties investment fund (created to give copyright owners a better way to sell their copyright and receive capital) as well as coordinating investigations into any administrative or operational issues shown in those account statements.
  • You use Excel to produce ad-hoc analyses and key trends for internal and external contacts, including reporting for Kobalt’s senior executives and top clients.
  • You translate underlying data into BI platforms to surface usable business intelligence tools.
  • You provide support to the overall team with audits and as well as manage high-priority client requests timely and efficiently.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • You have experience in music publishing or with a performing rights society, ideally in a Royalty/Finance Accounting capacity with a track-record of providing excellent customer service and can demonstrate an understanding of collection societies and music publishing on a global scale.
  • You are highly numerate with expert Microsoft Excel skills including intermediate or higher ability with SQL.
  • You are analytical, with an ability to manipulate and scrutinise large sets of data and provide meaningful analysis.
  • You are a collaborative team player with strong written and verbal communication skills showing an ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure as well as prioritise strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships throughout the organisation and with external 3rd parties
